2010-2015 – Replacing hatch lift supports

One of the gas springs failed recently on the 2010.
I replaced both with StrongArm 7088 “gas charged lift support” from Rockauto.
The StrongArm 7088 are _exactly_ the same (extended) length as the OEM 2010 supports.
The hatch is almost perfectly balanced when opening & requires very little effort to nudge it up after that.
Closing is fairly easy. The 2010 feels the same as the 2015 with its OEM lift supports

I was quite confused when researching replacements.
A few things I learned along the way:

1) Some places show different part numbers for 2010-2011 vs 2012-2015 vehicles.
I compared my 2010 & 2015 “lift supports” & both have the same Toyota p/n (68950-0W540, right side)
So the “lift supports” are the same accross the years 2010-2015.

2) For some reason Toyota has different p/n for L & R sides.
All the replacement “lift supports” fit either side, so only one p/n needed.

3) Rockauto shows 8 items for “lift support”.
None of them is the StrongArm 7088…
but…
When I searched rockauto for “StrongArm 7088” they did carry that item:
More Information for STRONGARM 7088
That page has: “OEM / Interchange Numbers: 689500W542, 689600W532”
These are the Toyota p/n for their “lift supports”

That is what I ordered & they easily “pop” onto the ball ends.
I noted each end of the new “lift supports” included a tiny blob of lubricant in each recess, a nice touch.
